Jesus Did Not Die on Friday; Friday to Sunday is not up to Three Days and Three Nights — Pastor Abel Damina

The senior pastor of Power City International Bible Church, Pastor Abel Damina, has sparked debates among Nigerian Christians after he said in a viral sermon video that Jesus Christ did not die on Friday.

The clergyman, who is famous for his controversial gospel messages and attacks on popular prosperity preachers, explained that Jesus’ couldn’t have died on Friday night when he was supposed to be in the grave for three days and three nights.

He argued that Friday to Sunday does not make up three days and three nights for which Jesus, the son of God, was supposed to be in the grave, as written in the Bible.

“The federal government gave us Friday as a public holiday, so it is actually a holiday, is not a celebration of his (Jesus’s) death and burial, because the calculation doesn’t add up,” Pastor Damina said in jest.

According to Pastor Abel Damina, Jesus died on Wednesday night, which the Jews refer to as “High Mass,” and resurrected early morning on Sunday. He went on to count from Wednesday to Sunday, which makes up the three days and nights before Jesus’ resurrection.

This sermon has been met with criticisms from many who do not agree with Damina’s teachings, while many have seen reason with him, a problem that many Christians have been trying to solve.
