
In a rather unusual court ruling, as revealed by @DejiAdesogan on his X handle, a Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, has ordered a lady identified as Miss Rhoda Adu to pay ₦150,000 in damages to her boyfriend, Mr. Olapitan Sola.
The court’s decision followed a dispute over a failed promise, where Miss Adu after refused to honor an agreement after receiving money from Mr. Sola.
According to court records, Miss Adu had received ₦3,000 from Mr. Sola, intended as transport fare for her to visit him. However, she did not fulfill her end of the agreement and failed to make the trip.

Feeling deceived and financially burdened, Mr. Sola sought legal redress, claiming emotional distress and breach of trust. In his complaint, Mr. Sola argued that the incident caused him psychological distress and wasted his resources.
The Magistrate Court, after reviewing the case, deemed the situation a breach of an implied contract and ruled in favor of the claimant. Miss Adu was subsequently ordered to pay ₦150,000 as compensation.
The ruling has sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing disbelief at the court’s decision.
