
The News Agency of Nigeria (NANS) reports a road accident on the Umuahia-Enugu Expressway on Friday, March 7, 2025, around 2 PM, with four lives lost and 14 injured.
The report says the accident occurred at the Ohiya Mechanic Village axis of the Umuahia-Enugu Expressway, with one of the passengers—a female—dead at the spot.
It was a white Toyota Hiace bus with 17 passengers and a driver. The bus, which is said to belong to Ebonyi Transport Corporation, summersaulted multiple times after one of its tyres broke.

17 passengers, comprising 11 male adults and seven female adults, were rushed to the Federal Medical Center; two males and a female died at the hospital, making it four fatalities and 14 injuries still receiving treatment at the Medical Center.
The accident was confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Abia State Sector Command, which reported at the location.
The FRSC Commander, Ngozi Ezeoma, sympathized with the victims of the road crash and their families while urging road users to always comply with road safety rules and regulations.
