Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has addressed the controversy surrounding an AI-generated video that falsely depicts him kissing May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie.
Pretty photos of AY and May Edochie together in an aircraft enjoying themselves as they travel with regards to their current movie production had circulated the internet. It is through the photos that AI video was generated.

In a social media post, AY urged content creators to use their innovative talents for positive change rather than spreading misleading narratives.
The AI-generated video follows recent allegations by a Facebook user, Agozi Samuel, who falsely claimed that AY was involved in an affair with May Edochie and contributed to her separation from Yul Edochie.

AY has since petitioned the Nigerian police, requesting an investigation into the defamation and cyberstalking case. Agozi later deleted the video and issued an apology, admitting he fabricated the claims for online engagement and financial gain.
AY emphasized that such harmful uses of technology only contribute to division and negativity. Instead, he encouraged young innovators to focus on nation-building by using their skills in art, music, and technology to uplift society.

He also urged his followers to support his latest film, “The Waiter Movie”, currently showing in select cinemas in the UK, USA, and Canada.
The comedian reaffirmed his commitment to ethical content creation and called for responsible use of AI, stressing that digital tools should not be weaponized for character assassination or misinformation.
