The Chinese government has applauded Nigeria for successfully rescuing four of its citizens who were kidnapped in Kwara State. The joint operation, coordinated by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Police, led to the safe recovery of the victims on Saturday.
The commendation was delivered on Sunday in Abuja by China’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, represented by Consul Wang Jun, during the formal handover of the rescued citizens at the DSS medical facility. He praised the Nigerian authorities for their swift and well-coordinated response, describing the rescue as “a reflection of strong security collaboration between both nations.”

The rescued individuals (Dansu Zhou, Zhou Hai, Zhou Jia Jun, and Fan Xiu Guo) were reportedly kidnapped by armed men on their way to a mining site in Yagba West, Kogi State.
The Chinese envoy also expressed appreciation for the quality of medical care provided by the DSS, noting that the professionalism of its medical team contributed greatly to the victims’ recovery. He said the Chinese government was impressed to learn that the DSS operates a modern medical facility of international standard in Abuja.
Recent DSS operations across Nigeria have been praised for disrupting criminal networks and recovering illegal weapons, reinforcing the country’s fight against insecurity.
