United Capital Plc has announced plans to hold a memorial service for six of its staff members who died in the tragic fire at Afriland Towers, Lagos, on September 16, 2025.
Recall that Igbo TV had reported a fire outbreak incident at Afriland Towers with videos, where people in the building were struggling to escape the fire from the tall building. Unfortunately, some people did not survive it.
In a statement released on Monday via its official X handle, the company identified the deceased as Jesutoni Shodipo, Kehinde Adeoye, Ndidi Osaemedike-Okeke, Olumide Oyefodunrin, Opeyemi Oloyede, and Rebecca Adenuga.

The management described their passing as an “immeasurable loss,” noting that each of them played a vital role in the company’s success and community. “Their painful loss leaves an immeasurable void,” the statement read.
United Capital expressed heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased, assuring them of continued support during this difficult time. It said the upcoming memorial would honour their lives “with dignity and solemnity.”
The company also commended emergency responders for their efforts during the incident, which claimed at least 10 lives, including four staff of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
