Security forces in Delta State have recorded a major victory against kidnappers operating in the Ogwashi-Uku area, following a coordinated operation that led to the killing of two suspects and the recovery of weapons and ransom money.

The breakthrough was announced by activist Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared details of the operation via his official handle. He praised the courage and swift action of the joint security team, which included officers from the Nigerian Army’s 63 Brigade Asaba, the Divisional Police Headquarters Ogwashi-Uku, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad Asaba, and the Edo-Ogwashi community security team.

According to Gwamnishu, the team recovered an AK-47 rifle, three fully loaded magazines, 16 rounds of live ammunition, and millions of naira believed to be ransom payments collected by the kidnappers.

“Two of the suspects were gunned down during the operation, while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” he revealed.

The criminals were reportedly responsible for recent high-profile abductions in the area, including the kidnapping of two female students from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, and an estate supervisor who was abducted and shot in Ubulu-Okiti.

Gwamnishu credited the Delta State Government’s tracking support as key to the successful operation. He also expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for providing the needed resources to support community safety efforts.

He extended his gratitude to the 63 Brigade Garrison Commander, as well as the military heads overseeing Oshimili North and Aniocha South, for their quick response. The Divisional Police Officer of Ogwashi-Uku was also commended for his continuous availability and support.

Gwamnishu concluded by applauding his own security team, especially Intel Ejemizu Chidozie Peters, for their commitment and readiness to act at all times.

He urged residents to keep sharing credible information to help dismantle criminal operations in the region.
