
Report reaching Igbo Tv has it that a number of ten persons have been confirmed dead, while many got injured in a stampede struggling to collect food palliatives in the country’s capital, Abuja.
The sad incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday December 21, 2024, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja.
The Church had organized a charity program to share food palliatives for the less privileged in the nearby communities.

However, people came from several other villages the crowd grew into an uncontrollable disorder, resulting in a stampede as people scrambled to reach for food.

In the chaos, ten people could not save themselves from being pinned to the ground, so they gave up the ghost. Many others escaped death but took severe injuries, and were later taken to medical center for treatment.
The Abuja Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement and sympathized with the deceased families and wished the injured speedy recovery.

Recall that earlier Igbo Tv had reported similar stampede incident that occurred in Ibadan during a feeding program, where more than 30 children lost their lives and many got injured.
