BREAKING: Parent of Three of the Kidnapped Niger Pupils Dies From Heart Attack

Tragedy has struck in Niger State after a father of three abducted pupils from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools, Papiri, died from a heart attack.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Northern Region and FCT, Rev. John Hayab, confirmed the development during an interview on Channels Television.

According to him, the man, identified simply as Mr. Anthony, collapsed after receiving another distressing update about the ongoing captivity of his children. Hayab said the emotional weight of the mass abduction has been overwhelming for many parents.

“People do not realise how heavy this trauma is,” he said. “We tried reaching out to some parents today, but many were too frightened or distraught to speak.”

The heartbreaking news comes shortly after 50 kidnapped pupils managed to escape between Friday and Saturday, finding their way back home days after the attack that saw 303 students and staff taken by gunmen.

School authorities have since visited families of the escapees to confirm their safe return.

Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, CAN Chairman in Niger State and Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, welcomed the development but urged Nigerians to keep praying for those still in captivity.

According to CAN’s latest figures, 251 primary school pupils, 14 secondary students, and 12 teachers remain with their abductors.
