Celebrity auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, has reportedly been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to travel to Qatar for his wedding with controversial social media personality Blessing CEO.
Reports claim IVD was detained on Friday by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions over his unresolved legal battle concerning the death of his late wife, Abimbola Ogbonna, in October 2022.
According to blogger Stella Dimoko-Korkus, “The domestic violence case against him regarding his late wife is still in court. IVD is not supposed to leave Nigeria until the case is over.”

The Lagos State Government had charged IVD with one count of involuntary manslaughter, following allegations that his wife died from injuries sustained during a fire outbreak linked to domestic violence in their Lekki home.
He was first arraigned before the Lagos State High Court in March 2023 under suit No. LD/21055C/23. During the hearing, the prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, revealed a minor error in the date of the alleged offence; initially recorded as October 10 and later corrected to October 12.
Despite pleading not guilty to the charges, IVD’s attempt to leave the country may be seen as a violation of court conditions, especially with the trial still ongoing. His lawyer had previously sought bail, and trial dates were adjourned for further proceedings.
The latest arrest raises questions about IVD’s compliance with legal restrictions and whether he had court approval for international travel.
Meanwhile, public attention has once again shifted to the unresolved case.
