BREAKING: Bandits Demand N100m Ransom for Each Victim in Kwara Community Kidnapping

Tension has gripped parts of Kogi State after gunmen abducted three staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and three others who were travelling to Anambra State ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The victims (identified as Chinenye Orji, Adamaka Anih, and Catherine Temaugee) were ambushed on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Aloma, a community near the Kogi–Benue border.

According to reports, the six victims were travelling in a Sienna minibus from Utako, Abuja, to Awka, Anambra State, when the kidnappers suddenly blocked the highway, opened fire, and shattered the vehicle’s windshield.

The driver, who managed to escape, said the attackers abducted all passengers, including his wife, sparing only himself and an elderly woman who could not walk properly.

“We were in the same vehicle going to Awka,” the woman recounted. “It happened a little after 3 p.m. near Aloma. The gunmen took everyone into the bush after shooting at our car.”

Sources revealed that the abducted INEC officials were deployed to print voters’ registers and prepare election materials for the upcoming poll.

The matter has been reported to the police, though the kidnappers have yet to contact the victims’ families or make any demands.

The incident adds to growing fears over insecurity and highway kidnappings across Nigeria.
