The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder of The Turn of Mercy Church in Lagos, for allegedly coordinating multiple illicit drug shipments into Nigeria.
The cleric, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was picked up on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church on Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, shortly after delivering a sermon.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the suspect had been on the run since June after two major cannabis seizures were traced to him; 200 kg of “Ghana Loud” found at Okun Ajah beach on June 4, and another 700 kg recovered from his delivery van on July 6.

Olasele reportedly admitted smuggling drugs from Ghana into Nigeria via waterways and fleeing to Ghana after twice evading arrest.
The arrest was part of a series of NDLEA operations across the country that yielded significant seizures:
Lagos: 15.63kg of Canadian Loud recovered from an apartment in Ikoyi; suspect Benjamin Udo Ukoh arrested.
Nasarawa: 3,093kg of skunk seized from three suspects in New Karu.
Kano: 359kg of skunk seized from Nura Yahaya; arrests for cannabis and opioid possession, including 20,000 tramadol pills.
Gombe: 550,266 opioid pills found in an uncompleted building; more tramadol seized along Potiskum Road.
Edo: 23,940 tramadol capsules and other drugs discovered in a Toyota Hiace traveling from Onitsha to Isanlu.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the successful raids and urged officers to sustain momentum in the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, which last week expanded its outreach to schools, religious centers, workplaces, and security agencies nationwide.
