Suspected ISWAP fighters launched a deadly ambush on a Nigerian Army convoy in Borno late Friday night, killing several soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), according to a report by SaharaReporters. The attackers, described as heavily armed and highly coordinated, struck with precision, leaving chaos and fear in their wake.
In a shocking twist, the insurgents reportedly abducted a serving Brigade Commander along with other troops. If confirmed, this would be the first time a Nigerian General is captured directly from the frontline by terrorists—a major escalation in the ongoing conflict.

According to HumAngle, the attack resulted in multiple military casualties before the insurgents fled with the abducted personnel. As of now, the Nigerian Army has not issued an official statement or confirmed the fate of the officer.
This incident comes amid rising insecurity across parts of Borno South. Senator Ali Ndume recently condemned a fresh wave of terrorist attacks in his constituency, describing the situation as “deeply worrisome.”
Ndume revealed that four farmers were murdered this week by Boko Haram insurgents while harvesting crops in Kwam village, near Dille in Askira-Uba LGA. He added that the region has witnessed a string of violent attacks, including the burning of a church and homes in Pemi, and another invasion in Shikarkir, Chibok LGA.
The senator criticised the inconsistent security presence in remote communities, warning that the lack of sustained protection has emboldened insurgents to strike repeatedly without resistance.
