The bandits who attacked Eruku community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have reportedly demanded N100 million ransom for each of the abducted victims.
Families of some kidnapped worshippers said they began receiving calls from the attackers on Thursday, two days after gunmen stormed the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, during an evening service. The assailants killed three people, abducted over 30 others, and carted away phones and valuables.
A community leader, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, confirmed the ransom demand, revealing that four members of his own family were among those taken. He recounted narrowly escaping after jumping through a window when the gunmen struck at about 6:06 p.m.

Olukotun explained that the kidnappers had divided the hostages into groups based on family ties and were calling relatives one group at a time.
“Some families have already received calls demanding N100 million per person,” he said. “As for my own relatives, I have not been contacted yet, but we are waiting.”
He stressed that Eruku, which shares a border with Kogi State, has long been exposed to criminal attacks and urgently needs stronger security reinforcement.
He called on the government to provide better weapons and support for local vigilante groups, noting that current community efforts are no match for the firepower of the attackers.
The incident has heightened tension across the area as families await further communication from the abductors and hope for swift intervention from security agencies.
