BREAKING: Bandits Ambush Police Patrol Team, Kill Five, Injure Two

Five police officers have been killed and two others injured after bandits ambushed a patrol team in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The slain officers were identified as DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU). The injured officers are Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, both from the State Intelligence Department.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the attack occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2025. He said the team had been dispatched on an intelligence-led patrol after a resident reported suspicious activities involving armed youths in the area.

Wakil explained that a combined unit drawn from the Rapid Response Squad, Mobile Police 10 PMF, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the State Intelligence Department was on patrol to prevent clashes between farmers and herders when the gunmen opened fire.

He said the officers engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange and “neutralized a number of the bandits” before reinforcements led by the Darazo Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, arrived to evacuate the wounded and recover the bodies of the fallen officers.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, later visited the scene, offering condolences to the families of the deceased and assuring residents that efforts were underway to track down the fleeing assailants.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring those behind the attack are brought to justice.
