Abia State governor, Alex Otti, was at the Presidential Villa on Monday, where he met with President Bola Tinubu in what many believe is another push toward securing the release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Otti’s visit comes shortly after he travelled to Sokoto prison to see Kanu, who is currently serving his sentence. He didn’t go alone; Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel, the state Attorney-General, Ikechukwu Uwanna, and his media aide, Ferdinand Ekeoma, were all part of the delegation. Officials from the Sokoto State Government also witnessed the visit.

The governor has repeatedly said that finding a lasting solution to Kanu’s case is a major concern for him. After leaving the prison, he explained that a strategy was already in motion and that he intends to keep pushing every legal and political option available.
While Kanu still has the right to appeal his conviction, Otti insists there are other avenues the state is actively working on to secure his freedom.
His latest meeting with Tinubu is widely seen as part of that ongoing effort. Although the details were not made public, political watchers say the move shows Otti is trying to engage both state and federal channels to move the conversation forward.
