A new political party may soon emerge in Nigeria as the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
The application, dated June 19, 2025, and received by INEC on June 20, was signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, National Chairman of the association.
Prominent political figures behind the push include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and Dr. Umar Ardo, convener of the League of Northern Democrats.

“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission, requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, as a political party,” the letter reads. “This is sequel to the decision taken by the Nigerian National Coalition Group to sponsor our association for full registration.”
The application includes the party’s constitution, manifesto, and logo, which features a maize (corn) symbol. The party’s slogan is “Justice for All.” The coalition had initially explored the possibility of merging with existing political parties but dropped the idea due to ongoing litigations and internal divisions within those parties.
A special committee led by Rotimi Amaechi recommended forming a new party to ensure all founding members start on equal ground. Chief Rickets added, “We have also herewith attached our logo describing in details the symbolism of our party colours and their configuration and the corn (Maize). We have further attached our manifesto encompassing details of our party ideology, and our constitution providing the legal framework that defines our identity, structures and organisation.”
The coalition now awaits INEC’s decision on the application. INEC will review the materials and decide whether ADA meets the criteria for full registration— a ruling that will determine if the party can contest the 2027 elections.
