It seems the United Nations has also failed in its obligations just like the former League of Nations which could not prevent World War II.
Many are already predicting the inevitability of war, as things have suddenly worsened.
Or is it the tuzzle for world power? Great nations seem not interested in international organisational policies. They believe more in their own terms, and what favours them.
The Russian-Ukraine war has been on and going for a while now, and all efforts to bring an end to it has borne no fruit. The parties involved want what they want. Even though it means outright destruction of everything in the environment. This makes one wonder what Jean Jacques Rousseau said about humans being rational, yet nothing to proof it so.
Rational beings should be able to understand the dangers of war and try as much as possible to avoid them. Of course, experience should teach us enough, if reason is deceased.
There is a philosophical joke about humans always inventing things to help destroy their kind and the larger ecosystem, including innocent animals like rats, who have never in their lives produced a rat trap to kill their fellow rat.
Why do nations keep producing destructive weapons and amplifying their military strength when there are international organisations meant to encourage peace?
The United Nations Organisations have done nothing other than increasing the powers of great nations and member states. Take a look at the Governing body, you see that, there are countries that are permanent stakeholders in the UNO. This means, they get to always be involved in the decision-making processes for several other nations. That speaks of power and recognition.
If one takes a keen look at the wars in Gaza and Ukraine, one would see that the United States of America are big players. Believed to be the world power, which is a question mark in itself, they feel every other nation has to be under their supervision. They make decisions for lesser countries, and can build military bases anywhere.
Russia, formerly United Soviet States of Russia (USSR) believes it holds power, and cannot let other countries sit down and make decisions for her. Though things changed after the 2nd World War, Russia is a nation with pride just like every other great nations like China, Japan, Germany, North Korea, etc.
And it seems what these nations mostly pride themselves with, is the skill to produce and possess modern weaponry and military might.
The US knows that Russia will never succumb to its threats or consider its terms, yet they want to impose them on Russia. Russia are very conscious of their existence and believes the US are on a mission to extinguish them.
The US have so much used its persuasive skills to win majority of European countries to its side, including Germany which survived a lot on Russian gas.
Now, the tides are swaying into larger participation, as US have approved the use of its long range missiles including the Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) by Ukraine against Russia. Earlier Ukraine were under restrictions from using them.
United States weapons attacking Russia with their approval, means United States warring against Russia. And that is something Russia and its close allies won’t take lightly.
It is reported that the decision came after Russia staged 50,000 troops including thousands of North Korean army in the southern region of Kursk, where Ukraine had earlier staged a counteroffensive during the summer.
Some sources also claims Germany are readying their weaponry upon request by the POTUS, Joe Biden, who have also involved Australia and other European nations.
The decision made by Biden has sparked concerns across nations and critics. While some like Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs have endorsed the decision, claiming Ukraine has a right to defend itself, many have kicked against it.
Russian military spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov believes that allowing United States weapons into Russian territories means direct involvement by the United States.
Donald Trump Jr, son of the US president elect believes Biden’s decisions is poised towards making things difficult for his father before he even assumes office.
“The Military Industrial Complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives,” Newsweek quotes him saying.
Some believe the decision which is unlikely to lead to World War III is pointless and dangerous. It is pointless as it would escalate the conflict and the whole of Europe or the West would not be able to render Ukraine the help it needs against Russia. It is also dangerous as it now means direct involvement of US/N.A.T.O.
The cause of the war is clear, however, each party believes it is right in its own way. A war between a black and white, where each side believes it is the latter.
But external actors like the US seems to have been fueling the war, pushing Ukraine into taking actions they would have reconsidered if they were alone.
Everyone is aware of Russia’s might, except the US which believes it is mightier. The war is in truth between Russia and the US, Ukraine are just the unfortunate channel.
