The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that the November 8 Anambra governorship election will hold smoothly despite minor network disruptions recorded during the mock accreditation exercise.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), co-chaired by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, represented by Mr. Hassan Abdullahi.
Amupitan, presiding over his first ICCES meeting since assuming office, said the commission’s week-long assessment in Anambra confirmed its readiness for the polls. “We encountered some network challenges during the mock accreditation in 12 polling units, but measures have been taken to ensure a seamless process on election day,” he said.

According to him, 24,000 INEC staff will be deployed across 5,718 polling units, while voting will not occur in two units with no registered voters. He added that results would be collated at 326 ward centres, 21 local government areas, and finally at the State Collation Centre in Awka.
INEC also extended the PVC collection deadline from October 29 to November 2, 2025, following reports that only 63.9% of registered voters had collected their cards.
Amupitan commended security agencies for their coordination and warned against vote buying, urging joint efforts to ensure credible elections. The NSA’s representative, Abdullahi, also assured voters of tight security before, during, and after the election.
