EFCC Declares Sujimoto CEO Wanted Over Money Laundering Allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Olasijibomi “Sujimoto” Ogundele, chief executive of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, wanted over allegations of money laundering and diversion of funds.

In a notice issued Friday on its official X handle, the EFCC urged anyone with information on Ogundele’s whereabouts to contact its offices nationwide or report to the nearest security agency.

The 44-year-old real estate developer, originally from Ori-Ade LGA in Osun State, was last known to reside at Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The wanted declaration follows a string of controversies around Ogundele’s business operations. In October 2024, he was detained by the Force Criminal Investigations Department in Abuja after a petition alleged he obtained $325,000 under false pretenses for an apartment that reportedly did not exist.

Earlier in March 2024, an investigative report revealed a ₦70 million investment dispute, with claims that only part of the money was repaid, leaving an outstanding balance of nearly ₦90 million. More recently, a social media influencer accused him of owing another individual $1.9 million.

Ogundele, who studied law at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK, founded Sujimoto in 2013 and quickly rose to prominence with high-end real estate projects in Ikoyi and Banana Island. Once celebrated as one of Nigeria’s leading real estate disruptors, his reputation is now overshadowed by mounting legal troubles.

The EFCC has not disclosed specific sums involved in its ongoing probe but said investigations are still unfolding.
