A Brazilian billionaire has reportedly named football star Neymar as the sole heir to his vast estate, despite never meeting the player.
Local outlet RIC reports that the will, valued at around £846 million, was formalized in Porto Alegre on June 12 in the presence of two witnesses. The matter is now subject to review in Brazilian courts before Neymar can legally be confirmed as the beneficiary.
The unnamed businessman, described as childless and single, is said to have chosen Neymar because he felt a personal connection with the athlete. Reports claim he admired the forward’s close relationship with his father, which reminded him of his own late father.

Neymar has not yet commented on the development. Even if approved, legal experts suggest the inheritance could face complications during court proceedings.
The 33-year-old forward recently returned to Brazil, rejoining his boyhood club Santos in January after a brief stint with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. He scored three goals in 14 appearances during the 2024–25 season, adding to his record of 136 goals in 225 games during his first spell at the club between 2009 and 2013.
If confirmed, the inheritance would make Neymar one of the wealthiest athletes in the world.
