
There was tension in Abraka community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State, on Saturday after a lady alleged to be pregnant was shot dead by a soldier while chasing suspected internet fraudsters, commonly called “yahoo boys.”
According to eyewitnesses, soldiers attached to Operation Delta Sweep had attempted to intercept the suspects, who allegedly refused to stop and sped off. In the chase that followed, the soldiers reportedly opened fire. One of the bullets struck the pregnant woman, killing her instantly.

Her death triggered outrage in the community, with residents, indigenes, and students pouring into the streets in protest. Attempts to rush her to the hospital proved futile, as she died at the scene.
Till now, security authorities have not issued an official statement on the incident. The community remains tense, with calls for justice growing louder.
