The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a fresh increase in the cost of obtaining passports, with the new rates set to take effect from September 1, 2025.
In a statement signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the agency confirmed that the new fees will apply only to applications processed within Nigeria.
Under the revised structure, the 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while the 64-page booklet with 10-year validity will be issued at N200,000.

The NIS clarified that the fees for Nigerians applying abroad remain unchanged—$150 for the 32-page booklet and $230 for the 64-page version.
According to the service, the increment is aimed at preserving the quality and security features of the Nigerian passport while ensuring it remains globally recognized.
This development comes just a year after the Federal Government approved the last upward review in August 2024, which raised the price of the 32-page passport from N35,000 to N50,000 and the 64-page from N70,000 to N100,000.
The latest adjustment is expected to stir public reaction, as many Nigerians already grapple with the rising cost of living.
