The Anambra State Police Command has reacted to a disturbing viral video in which a young woman narrated how her brother was brutally murdered by suspected kidnappers.
According to the grieving sister, she, her brother, and another sibling were working on their farm when armed men attacked and dragged them into the bush. She recounted that while in captivity, the kidnappers ordered her to undress and instructed her brother to sleep with her.
Her brother, however, refused and told them it would be better to kill him than to carry out such a shameful act. In anger, the attackers allegedly hacked him to death with a machete in her presence.

She added that the assailants then ordered her and her other sister to flee before they were also killed.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, described the incident as “heartless and barbaric.” He extended condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Amansea community where the incident occurred.
The Commissioner has directed operatives of the State Intelligence Department to trace and identify the surviving victim to assist with investigations. The police also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative by providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
CP Orutugu further assured the public of the Command’s determination to clamp down on kidnapping and violent crimes, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains the police’s top priority.
