Peter Obi you are a ‘Desperate, Uber Politician’ — Labour Party Lambasts Peter Obi For Urging Supporters To Vote ADC in Bye-Elections

The Labour Party (LP), through its National Chairman Barrister Julius Abure, has sharply rebuked former presidential candidate Peter Obi for urging members to vote for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming bye-elections on August 16, 2025.

Obi made the plea via his social media accounts, asking members of the “Obidient” and COPDEM movements to support the ADC, arguing that LP was excluded from the ballot due to its internal leadership crisis.

In response, the Abure-led faction deemed Obi’s move “misleading, mischievous, and delusional” and labeled him a “desperate, Uber politician” with no firm political conviction.

The faction accused Obi of instigating the internal strife that now hinders the party’s electoral participation, citing a controversial September 2024 meeting in Umuahia as a trigger.

Abure affirmed that LP still has candidates on the ballot in several states, insisting that the party has met legal requirements for participation. He urged members across affected regions to remain focused and vote for LP candidates, pledging to uphold their civic duty despite Obi’s appeal.

The bye-elections (covering two senatorial, five federal, and nine state assembly seats) are set to be conducted in 16 states across Nigeria.
