A late-night fun between a couple turned tragic in southeastern Brazil when their car plunged from a 1,300-foot cliff, killing both occupants.
The victims, Adriana Machado Ribeiro, 42, and Marcone da Silva Cardoso, 26, had attended a party in Venda Nova do Imigrante on Sunday, August 3.
After dropping off friends, they drove to a popular hang-gliding launch site and were said to have been having sex in the car. Authorities confirm they were inside the parked vehicle making love when it somehow shifted and rolled over the cliff’s edge around 1 a.m. on Monday.

Police say the car dropped about 100 meters before hitting a rock, ejecting both occupants. The vehicle continued tumbling another 300 meters before coming to rest in pieces. The pair’s bodies were found nearby, with no signs of foul play or violence.
“There were no indications of a struggle, and the handbrake was engaged,” said investigating officer Alberto Roque Peres. “We suspect their movements inside the car caused it to tip forward.”
The wreckage was discovered around 7 a.m. by a property caretaker. Local residents reported hearing a loud crash during the night, but thick vegetation and darkness prevented them from seeing the incident.
Marcone, originally from Belo Horizonte, had recently moved to the area for work as a machine operator. Adriana, a local resident, spent 16 years working at her mother’s bakery and leaves behind two children from a previous relationship.
Friends and family described their relationship as loving, with no history of conflict.
