The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) says it has received a staggering 1,911,141 applications for its 2025 recruitment exercise, which closed on Monday, August 11.

The process, which was marred by repeated technical glitches, saw the application portal crash several times, forcing multiple postponements. Initially slated to open on June 26, the recruitment was first moved to July 14 and then to July 21. The deadline, originally set for August 4, was eventually extended by one week.

According to figures on the CDCFIB website, Kogi State topped the list with 116,162 applications, followed closely by Kaduna with 114,536 and Benue with 110,565. Other states with high applicant numbers include Kano and Niger, bringing the combined total from the top five states to 510,174.

At the bottom of the list, Bayelsa recorded the fewest applications with 11,669, followed by Lagos (14,216), Rivers (22,210), Ebonyi (23,601), and Delta (27,962). Together, these five states accounted for 99,658 applicants.

Following the closure of the application window, the CDCFIB announced via its official X (formerly Twitter) account that shortlisted candidates will be contacted soon with details on the next stage of the process.

The board urged applicants to regularly check their emails, text messages, and its official portal and social media platforms for updates.

“Recruitment Applications Closed! We thank all applicants for their interest and commitment to serving with honour, integrity, and national pride,” the statement read.

Shortlisting and further instructions are expected in the coming weeks.
