A 35-year-old woman, Aisha Mohammed (not her real name), from Katsina State, has recounted a horrifying tale of captivity in the hands of bandits who killed her newborn twin boys and threw their bodies to dogs, reports SaharaReporters.
“They cried too much,” she said in a quiet, broken voice. “They told me my babies would attract soldiers. And then… they killed them. Right in front of me.”
Aisha was one of many abducted when armed men stormed her village on April 18, 2025. Her husband, a local vigilante, was shot dead that night while trying to defend their home, a fact she only discovered after her release.
“I didn’t know he had died. I was praying every day in the forest, hoping he’d rescue me,” she said, trembling.

“Every day in the forest felt like dying slowly,” she recalled. “There were no midwives. I gave birth on the bare ground, in the dark, helped by other women held captive.”
Her twins lived just one week before the bandits decided they were a “nuisance.” “I begged. I pleaded. I said I’d take them deeper into the bush. They didn’t care,” she sobbed. “They tied me down and did it in front of everyone. Then they threw my babies to dogs.”
The horror didn’t end there. Aisha described daily rape, starvation, and unimaginable cruelty. “Some women were raped in front of others. If you cried, they laughed. If you fought, they beat you,” she said.
She also revealed shocking details of the bandits’ wealth. “They had sacks of N1000 notes, not millions, hundreds of millions. They even used the money to roll weed,” she added.
Worse still, she overheard plans to attack the Federal University Dutsin-Ma and Sabon Gari Safana village. “They talked about buying anti-aircraft guns. They were planning bigger attacks,” she said.
Aisha escaped with five others after the bandits got drunk and slept off.
