A British woman has accused a parasailing instructor of sexually assaulting her while they were flying over the Tunisian resort town of Sousse.
The mother, from Merseyside, was on a £6,000 family holiday when she booked a tandem parasailing ride with a friend. Staff at the water sports centre, however, told them it was too windy to go up together and instead paired each of them with an operator.
While her friend had a smooth experience, the woman said her own flight turned into a nightmare.
“He kept tightening the harness and pulling me closer,” she told The Sun. “I could feel his legs around me. One of his hands was on the parachute, but the other was touching my leg. He was groping me and pressing into me. He was also speaking to me in Arabic, and I didn’t understand what he was saying.”

She said the experience left her feeling “violated, dirty, and scared.” “I kept arching my back, trying to lean away. I was helpless in the air. It was terrifying,” she added.
The woman said she broke down in tears as soon as she landed. She immediately reported the incident to the manager of the water sports centre and then filed a report with local police.
She said the man who assaulted her appeared to be around 20 years old. “What happened wasn’t flirtation. It was sexual assault,” she said.
The holiday, booked through easyJet, was meant to be a relaxing break with her children. But after the incident, she said she couldn’t enjoy the rest of the trip.
Authorities in Tunisia have reportedly arrested the instructor. The woman’s insurance company and the UK Foreign Office are now assisting her.
In a statement, easyJet said, “The safety and wellbeing of our customers is a priority, and we are continuing to support the customer while working closely with our hotel partner.”
