A heartbroken mother has shared how religious beliefs and doctrine cost her the life of her newborn baby.

In a video that’s now making rounds online, the woman explained that she was raised in a church that forbids its members from taking medication or visiting hospitals, regardless of the situation.

Following this doctrine, she went through her pregnancy without antenatal checkups or even basic supplements like multivitamins. “I was born into the church. They don’t believe in medicine, and I followed that,” she said.

However, things took a turn when she began experiencing complications. Fearing for her life, she secretly visited a doctor and was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia; a serious pregnancy condition marked by high blood pressure that could be fatal without immediate medical attention.

She informed her husband, but he refused to approve hospital care. It wasn’t until she passed out one night that he finally rushed her to the hospital.

Doctors immediately called for an emergency cesarean section due to her life-threatening condition. Though the woman agreed to the procedure, her husband reportedly protested the use of medication and warned he would hold the hospital responsible if anything went wrong.

The baby was born but in critical condition and was placed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Sadly, after a month of fighting for life, the baby died.

Now, grieving and regretful, the woman says she has no plans to return to the church. But things have only gotten worse; her husband, she said, is now threatening her with divorce.
