Throughout last week, the social media space has been brewing with controversy following some shocking obituary posters circulating towns and social media walls. The contents of the posters belonging to one Facebook blogger known as Cindy Chidera Umeh in Rivers State, created and circulated by a lady she picked on.
Cindy is a blogger known for her insulting manner, broke-shaming men (often referring to them as “poor men with hefty iron-condemn preek”) and careless use of her popularity on Facebook to viciously attack those whose opinions differ from hers, including posting their photos and that of their unconcerned family members.

Born into hardship, Cindy’s upbringing was anything but ideal. With a father described as an alcoholic and absent, her early life lacked the structure and care many children are privileged to have.
Hence, what followed was a turbulent path that saw her selling her nude photos online for as little as ₦1,000; something she seemed to adopt as a means of survival, which has since haunted her public image.

According to sources familiar with the story, Cindy allegedly met an older man through her online nude marketing, whom people later discovered was allegedly a married man known as Mr. Obiya Obineche Udemgba, with children, based abroad.

Their relationship allegedly began with a one-night stand during the man’s visit to Nigeria. He reportedly paid her generously for the encounter, unaware that it would evolve into a bigger issue.

Not long after, Cindy claimed to be pregnant with his child. Despite alleged uncertainty over the child’s paternity, the man chose to accept responsibility, and cater for the child and Cindy, even allegedly building a house for Cindy. Cindy would go about claiming the man to be her husband, though she never posted him online, and would brag about marrying a rich man, while continuously broke-shaming poor men, and some women who are not fortunate like her.

The big issue started when Cindy extended her rude and uncouth behavior towards the workers, labourers and engineer building her house, insulting them, which resulted in issues with the builders refusing to continue working on her site.
Her problem escalated after she went online alleging that the engineer, one Terver Victor Samuel (as known on Facebook) stole ₦50 million Naira from her close relative and that he normally steal building materials of his clients. She, in her usual manner, posted the young man’s photos and private contacts and urged people to not deal business with him.

All this happened because said Victor posted the house on his social media handle, in a way to advertise his work. Nobody knew that was Cindy’s house because the engineer did not tag her to the post, or state the location of the project. However, Cindy went on rampage, letting everyone know it was her house project which she has been talking about, and that the engineer wasn’t supposed to bring it online, because they reached some form of agreement.

The engineer had taken the post down and apologized, however, Cindy promised to deal with him, including lying and staining his reputation, which she did. An action the engineer didn’t take likely, as he immediately involved law enforcements so that Cindy would proof her allegations.
The matter was later settled with the police, and the engineer promising to end business with Cindy. Many people took the engineer’s side, which resulted to Cindy resorting to her usual bile and inappropriate behavior. She would dig up people’s photos and insult them.
It was when she posted the photos of one other blogger known as Favour Arum Ezinne with her fiance, making a caricature obituary poster, that things went bad for her (though it is still being debated who started the obituary thing first).

Favour decided to take it farther than anyone could imagine. She also went on and dug up Cindy’s past lifestyle; her nudes which she has been selling for ₦1,000 some years ago. Those are the pictures Favour used for Cindy’s caricature obituary posters.

Favour did not stop at Facebook, she printed the posters in hard banners and had them circulated and mounted on street walls, markets and roads in several States including Rivers, Abia, Benue, Lagos, etc., which has gone viral.

This deed has been applauded by many social media users who know Cindy for what she is, saying she finally met her match. While others felt it was too much and should end at once. But it seems Favour is avenging all those that have been directly and indirectly insulted and defamed by the uncouth Cindy.

The issue has gotten so worse that Cindy according to some sources cried. She would soon go on deactivating her Facebook account, after series of posts showing how many people she has blocked so far.
