Popular entertainer Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington (Akpi), has taken the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to court, demanding ₦3 billion in damages.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1354/2025, was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 9, 2025, by a consortium of female attorneys representing the artist.
He claims the agency damaged his reputation by declaring him wanted over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
On June 27, NAPTIP released his photo and name on its official channels, stating it was searching for him. The agency alleged that he ignored multiple summons for questioning tied to a viral Instagram video, where he claimed to have had sex with a 15‑year‑old girl; a claim he later said was a publicity stunt.

NAPTIP even placed him on an international watchlist and considered offering a ₦50 million bounty if he didn’t appear.
In response, Speed Darlington released a defiant video denying any wrongdoing. He demanded proof, questioned who filed the complaint, and suggested NAPTIP was chasing clout by targeting him. He even joked that he charges ₦2.5 million just to make an appearance and insisted he’d sue for defamation unless the “wanted” notice was removed.
He accuses NAPTIP of being swayed by “social media hate” instead of facts and insists his remarks were harmless talk, not crimes: “All I did was speak,” he said.
Despite NAPTIP’s warnings, Speed Darlington maintains he won’t show up unless compensated or given evidence. As of now, the Federal High Court in Abuja is reviewing his suit, but NAPTIP has not responded yet.
