EFCC Drags Mercy Chinwo’s Former Manager Eezee Tee to Court For Allegedly Stealing $443,000 From Another Gospel Artiste

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, a.k.a. Eezee Tee, former manager to popular gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, to court over the alleged theft of $443,371 belonging to her and fellow gospel artiste, Judith Kanayo, popularly known as Judikay.

The EFCC filed a three-count charge against Onyedikachukwu before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja, accusing him of criminal conversion of funds intended for both artistes. Also joined in the suit is his company, EeZee Global Concepts Limited.

According to the anti-graft agency, Onyedikachukwu misappropriated the funds in 2023, using the money for personal purposes without the consent of the owners. The funds were allegedly proceeds from music deals, royalties, and public appearances.

The EFCC stated that his actions violated Sections 278(1)(b), 285(1), and 278(2) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, which address fraudulent conversion and stealing by persons in positions of trust.

Though a date has not been fixed for his arraignment in the Lagos court, Onyedikachukwu is already facing a separate trial at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

In that case, he is being prosecuted for alleged money laundering and engaging in unauthorized foreign exchange transactions. He has pleaded not guilty before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke.

The EFCC says investigations are ongoing, and more revelations may emerge as the trials progress.
