Former Arsenal and Ghana international Thomas Partey faces serious allegations after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by the Metropolitan Police.
According to court documents, the incidents date between 2021 and 2022 and involve three women. One woman has alleged two separate counts of rape, another has brought three rape allegations, and a third has accused him of sexual assault.
All charges relate to offenses alleged to have happened in the specified period.
Partey, 32, denies all allegations. In a statement, his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said he “fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation” and “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.” Due to ongoing proceedings, Partey cannot comment further.

The case began in February 2022 following the first police report. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with additional information to come forward via [email protected].
Partey’s contract with Arsenal officially ended on June 30, 2025, after joining the club in October 2020 for a £45.3 million transfer from Atlético Madrid. During his five years at the Emirates, he played 130 Premier League games and scored nine goals; last season, he made 35 appearances and helped the team secure a second-place finish.
He also featured prominently in the Champions League, with 12 appearances as Arsenal reached the semi-finals. Internationally, Partey has earned over 50 caps for Ghana and was active in World Cup qualifiers earlier this year.
He is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5, 2025.
Arsenal released a brief statement: “The player’s contract ended on June 30. Due to ongoing legal proceedings, the club is unable to comment on the case.” Both the Football Association and the Premier League have declined to comment.
The investigation and upcoming court process mark a serious moment in Partey’s career, with much attention focusing on the detailed handling of the case by the authorities.
