A commercial tricycle rider in Aba, Abia State, identified as Lucky Okoro, has been hailed nationwide for his rare display of honesty after returning ₦4 million forgotten in his tricycle by a female passenger.

According to a post shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, Okoro narrated that he had picked up the woman, said to be a Cameroonian, from the Aba Main Park and dropped her off at Ariaria Market. Unknown to her, she left a bag containing the cash inside the tricycle, popularly known as keke.

Okoro said he tried to trace her but initially couldn’t find her. He eventually located her at Ariaria Junction, crying hysterically and contemplating suicide.

“I called her, wiped all her tears, then returned the money to her,” he wrote. “I even took her to a hotel where she could rest and continue her journey the next day.”

Despite being mocked by fellow riders who called him a “mugu” for returning the cash, Okoro said he was proud of his actions.

“I am not a mugu. I love what I did. All thanks to Jehovah.”

The act of honesty has since gone viral, drawing widespread praise across Nigeria. Many compared his integrity to a similar incident in May when Governor Alex Otti rewarded another keke rider in Aba for returning ₦2.4 million forgotten by a passenger.
