Young Muslim Man Sets Himself on Fire in Kano, Claims He's Going to Paradise

Residents of Panshekara in Kano State were left in shock after a tragic incident in which a young Muslim man, identified as Suleiman Muntari, set himself on fire in broad daylight, claiming he was going to paradise.

The disturbing event happened along a busy road in the community, causing panic and confusion among passersby. Eyewitnesses said Muntari had been behaving strangely before the act. He was reportedly walking around aimlessly, mumbling to himself, and showing signs of mental instability.

“He said he wanted to go to Paradise. People thought he was just frustrated or joking. Nobody believed he would actually do it,” said Saminu Isah, who witnessed the incident.

Moments later, Muntari poured petrol on himself and lit a match. Despite efforts by those nearby to stop him, the fire spread rapidly, and he was engulfed in flames.

Another eyewitness, Aisha Salisu, described him as clearly disturbed. “It was obvious something was wrong. From the way he was walking and talking, it didn’t seem like he was in his right senses. There was a strong odor coming from him, and he kept shouting incoherently,” she said.

No official statement had been released by the police at the time of this report, but the tragic event has sparked conversations across Kano about the growing need to address mental health and emotional well-being, especially among young people.
