It is no longer news that the president of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be visiting Benue State today, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to pay his condolences to the victims of the recent attacks in Benue communities that took over 200 lives.
President Tinubu, after several calls from critics, decided to postpone his appointments in order to visit Benue State. He had earlier published a statement on his X handle about the sad incident, which many criticized as having no real touch of empathy.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the president’s visit, banners have been printed and lined across the roads to welcome the president and appreciate his kind gesture of paying them a visit and condoling with them.

An X user who posted the video of the banners could not hold his anger, calling it madness to be carrying out a campaign at the expense of people’s lives. “200 people died, the president is coming, and the people have made posters welcoming the ‘Renewed Hope’ president and thanking him for coming.”
Since the attack, the youths of Benue have taken to the streets, led by activist and socialite VeryDarkMan, to protest and express their grievance with the security issues in the state, which the government seems to have done nothing about.
Igbo TV had earlier reported the governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia’s, position towards self-defense, saying he does not support it but advocates for community policing.
