A mild drama unfolded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on Tuesday, June 11, after Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State, allegedly caused a scene at the Zulu Terminal of the General Aviation Terminal (GAT).
Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the Senate, reportedly arrived at the terminal around 6:10 a.m. for a flight to Abuja scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. However, by the time he got there, the boarding process had closed, and the aircraft eventually departed as planned.
According to eyewitnesses, the senator became visibly agitated upon learning he had missed the flight. He allegedly confronted airline staff, demanding the flight be delayed to accommodate him—an appeal the airline refused.

A viral video circulating online shows Oshiomhole in a heated exchange with airport personnel. Witnesses claim he blocked the terminal entrance, preventing other passengers from accessing the departure hall.
Some airport staff alleged that Oshiomhole attempted to use his influence to stop the airline’s operations temporarily. However, despite the commotion, no flight was delayed.
In a statement, Air Peace described the incident as “unacceptable,” condemning Oshiomhole’s actions and highlighting the airline’s unwavering policy on punctual departure. The airline reaffirmed that Oshiomhole missed the flight due to tardiness and that staff acted per protocol.
