The Enugu State Police Command rescued a 13-year-old girl allegedly kidnapped for ritual purposes and launched a manhunt for a popular Enugu native doctor accused of burying victims alive.
Police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the girl was rescued around 3:15 a.m. on Tuesday in Umuojor village, Ishiagu community, Ezeagu LGA. The operation involved police operatives, Neighborhood Watch, and vigilant locals.
Three suspects—Uche Kingsley Agumba (33), Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi (36), and Ejike Odinwankpa (38)—were arrested at the scene. However, the prime suspect, High Chief Levi Onyeka Obu, widely known as “Ezeani” and “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show,” escaped.

During the operation, officers uncovered two decomposing bodies—a male and a female—buried in a concrete-sealed pit within an uncompleted building used as a shrine. Preliminary investigations revealed the victims were recently murdered for ritual purposes, and the rescued girl narrowly escaped the same fate.
Earlier reports and viral videos showed residents discovering multiple corpses, including pregnant women and children, in soakaway pits within the compound.
Following the shocking revelations, the Enugu State Government has demolished the suspect’s shrine and related structures, citing legal violations.
Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, who visited the scene, commended the rescue team and ordered intensified efforts to capture the fleeing suspect and others involved.
“The Command is committed to ensuring justice is served and all perpetrators are held accountable,” Ndukwe stated.
