Former U.S. President Joe Biden, 82, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones, according to a statement released by his office on Sunday.
The diagnosis followed a medical evaluation prompted by urinary symptoms, leading to the discovery of a prostate nodule. Subsequent tests revealed a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating a high-grade and aggressive cancer.
Despite the advanced stage, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management through hormone therapy. Biden and his family are currently reviewing treatment options with his medical team.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Biden expressed gratitude for the public’s support, stating, “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.”
