Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, recently visited former Governor Nyesom Wike in a move aimed at restoring peace amid ongoing political tensions.
Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, confirmed the visit during a live media interview. He said Fubara arrived at his Port Harcourt residence accompanied by two All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and another individual.
“Yes, he came. He came with two APC governors and one other person. He said he wants peace — that’s fine. I want peace too,” Wike stated.
However, Wike attributed the political crisis surrounding Fubara to the governor’s refusal to heed advice from party elders and allies. He recalled an earlier meeting with several former governors where they counseled Fubara to remain humble in leadership.

“When this started, we sat him down — Seyi Makinde, Ortom, Ikpeazu, Ugwuanyi, and myself. We told him, ‘You have been given this office by God; don’t let people mislead you.’ But he chose otherwise,” Wike said.
He emphasized that while no one denies Fubara’s authority as governor, loyalty to those who supported him shouldn’t be abandoned.
On the issue of open grazing in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike acknowledged ongoing challenges. He said 100 hectares were allocated for grazing, but encroachment by land grabbers has complicated efforts.
“Nobody is happy about the situation. Governance isn’t like private business — we have to move with caution,” he explained.
Wike assured that the FCT administration is working on lasting solutions but stressed the need for careful and deliberate action.
