A Masterclass in Barcelona

The Catalan giants hosted the German giants on a special night in the Olympico stadium in Barcelona. This has been a fixture that sends shivers down the spine of all Barcelona supporters because of their abysmal form against Bayern Munich.

The match kicked off in spectacular fashion for the home team as Raphinha scored an early goal in the first minute of the game. Bayern Munich swiftly responded with a barrage of attacks against the Barcelona defence, and after having a goal disallowed for offside, Harry Kane stretched out his right leg to guide the ball into the back of the net from a beautiful cross by Serge Gnabry.

That goal seemed to light a fire in the belly of the Barcelona players and they went on to dominate the game, create more chances and retain possession. Robert Lewandoski scored the second goal to push Barcelona ahead, and the marvelous Raphinha scored two more spectacular goals to give the Catalans a well deserved 4-1 win.

Hansi Flick has decided to put his faith in the youthful talents at Barcelona, and they have not let him down. Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Curbarsi, Cassardo, Balde are all below the age of 23, but they have shown no fear and have adapted quickly to the demands of the new manager. There seems to be an excitement spurred by the fire in the bellies of these prestigious youngsters. While Raphinha will gain the headlines for his amazing hat-trick.

A lot of respect and admiration must go to Lamine Yamal and Pedri who dominated the game in the second half.

The 17 year old wonder kid came up against a tough test in Alphonso Davies, who is a lot faster than him. But he dribbled past the Bayern left back with ease and determined precision that gave the Barcelona fans a reminiscing feeling about the great no 10 who played on the right wing for them for so many years.

A New Era

Hansi Flick has ushered in a new era for the Barcelona faithful’s with their amazing start to the season. They will come up against a tougher test in the weekend as they visit the home of their Spanish rivals, Real Madrid in the match famously known as the El Classico. This match will give the footballing world a clear indication of this new era at Barcelona. Are the Catalan giants really back to their best?
