President Tinubu, in a State House meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, reiterated the importance of halting what he referred to as “senseless killings” of innocent Nigerians as a matter of urgency.
President Bola Tinubu instructed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to immediately put an end to violence and bloodshed in Borno, Benue, Plateau, and Kwara states.
The President also instructed an immediate overall overhaul of national security operations.
At a State House meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, President Tinubu reiterated during the reception of the NSA and service chiefs the need to end what he referred to as “senseless killings” of innocent Nigerians.

“Enough is enough,” declared President Tinubu in condemnation of the relentless violence and insecurity in most places, as captured in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The President reiterated his promise to restore peace across the country, particularly in states worst affected by attacks and instability. Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, Ribadu stated that President Tinubu was informed in detail by the service chiefs on the degree of devastation and death tolls in the crisis-ridden regions.
The NSA admitted that Tinubu had instructed a new approach to solving the problem of insecurity and that the president himself had also been following closely and giving orders while on his working visit to Paris and London.
“Mr. President gave us the chance to come and brief him again. It lasted very long. We gave him an update on what was going on.
“Even when he was out there, he was constantly in touch, giving directives and following developments,” Ribadu said.
Ribadu disclosed that the president had instructed security commanders before to visit troubled states, speak with political figures, and test the ground environment.
The NSA affirmed that there had been visits to Borno, Benue, and Plateau states and that feedback had now been directly reported to the President. Highlighting Tinubu’s insistence, Ribadu added that the president highlighted that the communities and the local governments needed to be included in tackling insecurity.
He quoted, “The issue of insecurity often is not just at the higher levels. It involves the subunits. They are the ones who are directly with the people, especially when some of the challenges border on community problems.”
“The President directed that we work more with governors.”
Representatives from the armed forces, police, and intelligence community attended the meeting, said Ribadu.
He revealed that the bulk of the recent attacks have been carried out using Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and have been targeting ungoverned or loosely held areas.
“The President is deeply worried and very concerned. His instructions were clear: stop the killings, restore order, and ensure the safety of all Nigerians,” Ribadu said.
