News of a 25-year-old young man identified as Joseph Abodunrin who took his own life on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Dagbolu, a community in Osogbo, Osun State, has made rounds on the internet.
Joseph, who turned 25 on February 6, 2025, has been making suicide-intent posts on his X handle since January this year, complaining of being tired of everything after trying so hard with no results coming through.
On January 31, 2025, Joseph had made a post saying he’d commit suicide if not for his siblings. He wrote, “If not for my siblings, I would have committed suicide. Those younglings are still full of optimism, hope, and dreams that I don’t want to squash with the news of my death.”
He made several other posts that indicated the low status of his mental health; however, no one paid attention. He talked about his purpose being done on earth and how overstaying one’s time is evil and then said he loved his siblings.

On Monday before he took his life, he tweeted saying, “I’m sorry I failed you all. I just couldn’t do it anymore… No matter how I explain, you won’t understand!!!”
He made a follow-up retweet saying, “I hope you all find it in yourselves to keep fighting, to remain hopeful, never to negotiate your dreams, and to finally and eventually thrive. That is my last wish. In everything, I give glory to God. I ran my race and gave it everything I had. Finally.”
Finally, he wrote, “Nothing more to say… My passwords are on the first page of my diary. Goodbye!”
His death was later confirmed by his cousin, Abodurin Grace, who expressed shock over his decision to take his own life without leaving a possible guess of intent for his family, as he always appeared cheerful, motivating others.
“I still feel shattered—so many words, yet unprocessed. You were the best brother. You encouraged us all, but you chose to speak out in a place we never imagined. You hid it all from us, going about with fake laughter and smiles. Now, we can’t get over it,” she wrote.
Although his body has not been found, and the Osun State Police command has declared that they are unaware of such an incidence, no one can tell what Joseph was going through, since he never specifically mentioned any.
