Young people, Don’t Let Social Pressure Ruin Your Future.
You must learn to develop independent thinking skills; this is critical.
Hey! I know that nobody is entirely a product of their own thoughts, as we are all products of some sources.
But you must learn to be Teflon-coated. Develop a thick skin against the cankerworm of social life designed to eat away at your destiny.
It baffles me that you, a young person with no recurring source of income, would buy a product worth N300,000 just to impress another broke dude with no more than N23,000 in their account.
I’m shocked that you can save for six months just to buy a phone to snap pictures to ‘pepper’ someone on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
How dare you?
You lavish so much of your youthful resources on material things that don’t in any way contribute to a better tomorrow.
How dare you?
They told you that an iPhone is an asset, yet you do not even know how to ‘asset’.
Come on! You are foolish at times.
Tell me, what exactly does a student need a phone of N300,000 for?
To browse Google, YouTube, and other social media sites? To download PDFs, type on docs, send emails, and what else?
If you think deeply about this, you might as well realize that a phone of N50,000 can handle all that. But because of social pressure, the bandwagon effect, you’re going to lavish your entire savings on a product so expensive that you cannot maintain.
Of course, I can understand if, as a young person, you design graphics using your phone. I can understand if you double as a video editor and require a phone with more capability. I perfectly understand if your phone is your workstation and you need more capacity to handle the back-breaking tasks that will, in turn, put money in your account.

I can understand if you’re working on building a perception in their mind that will automatically translate to belle-culture.
I can understand all that.
But to snap pictures to impress others, appear like ‘Emeka’ when you have no ‘shishi,’ and depress other people? No way!
You must develop a thick skin against the cankerworm of social life designed to eat away at your destiny.
Life is not fair. Others might do it and escape the looming danger of such living tomorrow. But you, what if you’re not lucky enough? What if life does not bring such luck your way?
You must learn to create your own luck by yourself so that if life does not build a door for you, you build one where opportunity can knock.
You’re making N50,000 monthly, and you’re planning on buying a product worth N200,000 to satisfy an ego that will cause you more resources to maintain.
Stop it!
It appears unwise to spend N200,000 to do that which N50,000 can do.
It shows a lack of education that you’ll spend N450,000 on a phone just to log in to Facebook to comment, like, share, and chat with people.
Hey! I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy expensive gadgets, but before you do so, fix your financial life.
Let it be that you will not buy a gadget to impress your other broke friends and go ‘0-1-0.’
Higher is calling, and you’re wiser.
