A Nigerian American professor identified as Moses Ochonu on Facebook has pointed out some reasons why he thinks Evangelist Ebuka Obi is guilty of perpetrating the fake N500 million mansion testimony in his church.
Recently, the internet and Nigerian media space have been exploding with debates over a recorded fake testimony from a lady at the Zion Ministry of Evangelist Ebuka Obi, a popular Nigerian prophet.
The lady who came out to share a testimony of how the God of Evangelist Ebuka has fulfilled his prophecy in her life by blessing her with a N500 million worth of mansion in Lekki, Lagos State, was arrested by the owner of the mansion for wrongful claim of ownership of his property, with Evangelist Ebuka distancing himself from the incident after jubilating on the day of the testimony and making several declarations for his congregation to be blessed in like manner.
Prof. Moses Ochonu writes that it is wrong for Evangelist Ebuka to distance himself from the fake testimony or claim the testifier just appeared and gave her testimony spontaneously, which proper reasoning shows that he is guilty.

The prof. argues that Evangelist Ebuka’s “denial is unconvincing as the testimony in question was an entire production, edited, curated, and carefully packaged to further deceive and impress his impressionable flock.”
“If this was a spontaneous testimony from a member of the congregation or visitor to the church as Ebuka claims, then why did the “testimony” occur over several meetings? Why did Pastor Ebuka “prophesy” to her and thereafter portrayed the mansion as a manifestation of the prophesy?

Prof. Ochonu went ahead to highlight issues bothering today’s Christendom at large, stating that today’s Christians enjoy “giving testimony because it helps them curate and sell a perception of their lives that they want to propagate and which bears little or no correlation with their real lives.”
That most Christians do not want to be left missing when people come out to give genuine testimonies, and so they cook up testimonies that are not truly testimonies at all.
And the clergymen seeing these, are often too happy to take such advantage in order to advertise their ministry as a miracle center to gain more followers.
In his conclusion, Prof. Ochonu contends that Evangelist Ebuka is as guilty as the lady who might have willingly agreed to be participant in the fake testimony.
