President Donald Trump has announced a new immigration initiative, the “Gold Card,” a premium alternative to the Green Card. This special immigration card will be available for purchase at $5 million, offering wealthy immigrants a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
Trump described the Gold Card as an exclusive version of the Green Card, granting additional privileges to its holders.
“We’re going to be selling a Gold Card. If you have a Green Card, this is an upgraded version. It will cost around $5 million and provide all Green Card benefits plus more,” Trump stated.
He emphasized that the program is designed to attract wealthy and successful individuals who will contribute to the U.S. economy by investing, paying taxes, and creating jobs.
“This will be a direct route to citizenship. Wealthy people will be coming into our country through this initiative,” he added.

Trump believes the program could generate trillions of dollars, potentially reducing the national debt. He suggested that if one million people purchase the Gold Card, it could bring in $5 trillion, while ten million purchases could generate $50 trillion, enough to eliminate the national deficit.
The Gold Card is expected to replace the EB-5 visa program, which previously offered Green Cards to investors. Trump assured that applicants would be thoroughly vetted, and unlike the Green Card lottery system, this initiative would prioritize economic contributions over random selection.
Additionally, Gold Card holders would not be taxed on income earned outside the U.S., while being required to pay full taxes on U.S.-based earnings.
Trump highlighted that similar investment-based immigration programs exist in other countries, including Canada, which he jokingly referred to as “the 51st state.”
Since the Gold Card is technically a residency permit and not full citizenship, Trump claims it can be implemented without requiring Congressional approval.
This proposal aligns with Trump’s broader strategy of using immigration policies to boost economic growth and reduce the U.S. national debt.
