The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, for allegedly attempting to use his young nephew, Jomiloju, for a money ritual.
Fabiyi was apprehended by police officers on February 14, 2025. During interrogation, he revealed that a native doctor had instructed him to bring someone for a ritual that would grant him wealth.
According to Fabiyi, the herbalist assured him that the ritual would not cause the victim’s death but would leave them with a permanent ailment.

The suspect admitted that he chose his nephew because he believed he could still provide him with an education and a comfortable life while benefiting from the ritual’s financial rewards.
He also stated that he had been living with the child’s mother and helping to care for him.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu, stated that Fabiyi confessed to the crime and has been charged in court.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to ritual practices.
