The Delta State Police Command has reacted to a widely circulated video showing a physical altercation between officers of the Nigeria Police Force and personnel of the Nigerian Air Force in Jeddo, Okpe Local Government Area.
The incident, which occurred on February 11, 2025, involved members of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) and Air Force personnel attached to the 320 Forward Operation Base in Jeddo.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the confrontation began when QRS operatives flagged down a Toyota Corolla with registration number AKD-73-FL during a routine crime prevention patrol.
The vehicle’s occupants, upon sighting the officers, allegedly fled, prompting a chase that led to the arrest of one suspect, identified as Ibohama Precious (25), in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs.

The officers were transporting the suspect and the recovered exhibits to the police station when they encountered resistance at an Air Force checkpoint.
According to Edafe, “the Air Force personnel insisted that the suspect be released before allowing the officers to proceed,” which the policemen refused. This disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, as captured in the viral video.
Reports indicate that the altercation is part of a broader pattern of jurisdictional conflicts between security agencies in the region. Previous clashes have been reported between police and military personnel, particularly in operations targeting crime and illegal activities.
Witnesses in Jeddo expressed concern over the increasing friction, fearing it could compromise public safety.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether disciplinary measures will be taken against those involved in the altercation. However, the Delta State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the law while urging security agencies to foster better cooperation in the interest of public safety.
