The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended nine suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of Justice Azuka, the Onitsha North 1 Constituency representative in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Azuka was abducted on December 24, 2024, along Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas.

His decomposing body was discovered near the Second Niger Bridge on February 6, 2025, by a joint security team comprising police operatives and the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG).

Addressing the media in Awka, the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, confirmed the arrests, stating that a targeted operation led to the capture of the suspects and the recovery of two pump-action guns.

One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound during an exchange of fire with security operatives.
